5 Best WooCommerce Abandoned Cart Plugins

Did you know that the average cart abandonment rate is almost 70 percent? It’s hard enough to get visitors to shop on your site, but when such a large percentage of those who do simply don’t follow through with their purchase, it can really affect your profits.

Fortunately, there are ways to reduce cart abandonment. One way to do this is to send automated reminder emails to get people back to your site.

Today, we will be looking at five abandoned cart reminder plugins you can use with Woocommerce.

1. Abandoned Cart Lite & Pro for WordPress

Abandoned Cart for WordPress, by Tyche Software, lets you recover lost sales by sending abandoned cart reminder emails, as well as text and Facebook messages.

Let’s look at the Lite version of the plugin first, which is free to use. The Lite version lets you send automated emails in the background, both to logged-in customers and guests.

You can send automated emails to guests if they abandon their carts after they have entered their email address, even without signing up for an account.

When an abandoned cart reminder email results in success (you recover a lost sale), you will get an email notification. The plugin also automatically tracks your abandoned order value vs your recovered sales value to see how much ROI you are recovering with the app.

There is a default email template you can use, so you can get started right off the bat. You can also create as many custom email templates as you want.

Custom variables can be used in your templates to personalize your emails. They include:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Full name
  • Cart link
  • Product cart information

You can schedule these emails to be sent at set intervals, starting from one hour after your customer abandoned their cart.

Of course, once you recover a sale, these automated emails will automatically be stopped.

So, what does the Pro version have to offer in addition to all of the above? There are a lot of Pro features and we won’t have time to cover all of them, but here are the most important ones.

The first one is that with the Pro version, you get a dashboard where you can view all of the information you need to know, including how many carts have been abandoned, how many emails were sent, etc. There is also a quick-view widget dashboard, where you can see how many sales were recovered.

In addition, you can view all of your past sent emails, as well as cart data for each customer such as quantity, which coupon was used, and coupon status.

There are also features that can help you recover sales. For example, when guests click on the add-to-cart button, the Pro version allows you to show a pop-up asking for their email address so you can capture their information.

You can also assign coupon codes to abandoned cart emails to entice customers to return to the checkout page.

In the Pro version, you get three email templates instead of one. You also have more control over when you send your reminders; you can start sending them from one minute after a cart was abandoned and schedule them to be sent at specific times of the day.

There are also more tracking features.

The price of the Pro version is $119/year.

2. WooCommerce Cart Abandonment Recovery

This is a totally free plugin that you can use to recover lost sales.

Here’s how it works: It captures visitors’ information on the checkout page. Then, if a purchase is not completed within 15 minutes, it activates an automated follow-up reminder series of emails.

You can create your own customized email series. There are a number of free email templates you can use for your follow-up series so you don’t have to waste time testing the perfect language to use in your emails.

In addition, you can include personalized links in all of your follow-up emails. These links will take would-be customers right back to where they left off.

For example, if they already filled out the checkout form but did not complete their purchase, the link will take them to a filled-out checkout form. By reducing the steps needed to finally complete the purchase, you can increase your conversion rates.

The plugin also automatically generates unique, time-limited discount codes that can be sent in your reminder emails. Because they are time-limited discounts, they can create a sense of urgency

In addition, if a customer abandoned a cart because they were hesitant about the price and whether it was worth it (or the shipping/taxes fees were higher than expected), including a coupon code can fix this problem.

You can integrate with email service providers such as Active Campaign using webhooks.

The plugin is created by CartFlows and is absolutely free.

3. Jilt

Jilt is an email marketing service designed specifically for eCommerce stores. Besides WooCommerce, it integrates with Shopify and EasyDigitalDownloads.

There are a number of types of emails you can send with Jilt.

One is the email blast. These aren’t automated follow-up emails in a series but rather emails you send out to all of your subscribers (or a group of subscribers) at once.

These can be email newsletters, sales promotions, discount codes, announcements of new products, and more.

You can use advanced segmentation to improve your results. For example, you might want to send promotional emails or new product announcements only to customers to have already purchased from you or who are consistent buyers.

You can also create segmented lists based on criteria such as country, cart size, and more. You can combine multiple criteria to create super-targeted list segments.

There is a drag-and-drop editor you can use to create your emails. You can add images, buttons, and other media to make them look more professional.

You can also send automated follow-up emails. This is where abandoned cart reminder emails come into the picture – you can automate your reminders and leave them on autopilot to recover lost sales.

Jilt lets you collect email addresses early on. If you don’t do that, you will never have a chance to recover those lost emails.

The abandoned cart emails come with a customized link that takes customers right back to where they left off – with pre-filled forms and all.

Dynamic, unique discount codes are also included in the abandoned cart emails to entice customers to return.

Another type of lost sales recovery email you can send is a win-back email to customers who haven’t visited your site or made a purchase in a long time (or who canceled their subscription). You can offer a special discount for those “retired” customers.

If a popular product has gone out of stock, you can also send replenishment emails.

Sending welcome emails to new customers is another great way to build relationships and increase sales.

After a customer has made a purchase, you can send emails with info such as how to use the product, warranty information, return policies, and more.

You can send purchase confirmations, shipping details and tracking info, cancellations emails, refund notifications, and more.

Jilt gives you detailed analytics on all of your email campaigns. They also give you analytics on your eCommerce store.

For example, you will get data about your total revenue, total orders, average order value, customer lifetime value, and more. For your email campaigns, you will get information such as open, click, subscribe, and unsubscribe rates.

Jilt gives you information about data they call attributable revenue. This is revenue that can be attributed to your email campaigns, whether that is a broadcast or an automated abandoned cart reminder email.

Jilt has dynamic pricing which depends on how many subscribers you have. For up to 300 subscribers, it is totally free to use; afterward, it starts at $29/month for up to 1,000 subscribers.

However, you will always be able to send unlimited emails, connect unlimited stores, and get access to all of the features with any plan.

There is also a 14-day free trial available.

4. YITH Woocommerce Recover Abandoned Cart

YITH WooCommerce Recover Abandoned Cart has a number of features to help you get back lost sales.

You can set your time span for when a cart is considered abandoned. This can be 15 minutes or two hours.

You can customize your abandoned cart reminder emails by personalizing the sender and subject, as well as the content of the email.

Different email templates can be linked to different carts to make the emails more personalized.

You can save the email addresses of guests who aren’t logged in or who don’t have an account and segment your customers into different lists – and only have abandoned cart reminder emails sent to certain ones.

It’s easy to schedule when you want your emails to be sent – you can set different time intervals or only have abandoned cart reminder emails sent if a product’s value is over a certain amount.

To entice customers to return, discount codes and coupons can be added to your emails.

One of the benefits of using YITH is that it has an automatic translation feature. It will recognize the domain of a user and send an email in the appropriate language.

Finally, all emails will be tracked and you will get comprehensive reports with performance results.

There is both a free and a paid version of this plugin. The paid version includes features such as the ability to send emails automatically after a certain amount of time, the ability to add coupons to your emails, logs of every email, advanced reports, the ability to create different email types, and many other features that are not included in the free version.

The YITH WooCommerce Recover Abandoned Cart plugin integrates with the YITH WooCommerce Email Templates plugin. This plugin comes with various templates you can use to customize the look of each abandoned cart reminder email.

The premium version of the YITH WooCommerce Recover Abandoned Cart plugin costs 79.99 euros for one site, 129.99 euros for six sites, and 179.99 euros for 30 sites.

5. Metorik for WooCommerce

Metorik is an analytics and email automation service designed specifically for WooCommerce.

Metorik Engage is the service you are looking for if you are interested in sending automated abandoned cart reminder emails. It allows you to send automated, personalized emails not only when carts are abandoned but at other crucial points.

For example, you can send a win-back campaign email after a customer hasn’t made a purchase in 12 months.

There are various templates you can use, and you can also personalize your emails using variables.

Metorik Engage will generate automatic WooCommerce coupon codes you can use. You can set your own rules for how much of a discount you want to give and other restrictions.

Emails will be translated automatically to other languages when necessary.

Metorik’s segmenting system allows you to improve your conversion rates by targeting specific customers. You can filter and segment for everything: Orders, products, categories, subscriptions, and more.

For example, you can have an automated email sent only to customers who haven’t made a purchase within six months but have spent over $200 beforehand.

There will even be suggested segments based on your store that you can choose from.

Metorik takes abandoned cart recovery to the next level. They start by tracking every cart that is created and sending you information such as how many carts were created, the percentage of carts that were abandoned, and the percentage that was recovered through your emails.

There will also be a list of all carts created, with information such as who created it, the products in the cart, and more.

Metorik captures email addresses and names early on. You can automatically send different emails to different customers, based on factors such as which products they abandoned; all email types will be tracked so you can see which ones bring you the best results.

Besides being able to send emails and view your carts, you will have access to various in-depth reports. There are various dashboards you can choose from with different quick-view data, but you can also customize your dashboard to include the data most important to you.

Data you can include in your dashboard can be net revenue, net profit, total orders, profit margin, new customers, total sales, and so on. You can even decide how things such as net revenue are calculated.

You will also see how your performance compares to your performance during a previous time period. Period comparison and growth lets you see whether you are growing your business or sales are currently down.

If you sell in multiple currencies, this will be reflected in your reports.

These reports integrate with the WooCommerce Cost of Goods Sold extension, which lets you quickly track your profit.

Not only do you get reports about the past, but you will be able to see forecast reports for the future. By taking into account your previous performance over the past months, Metorik will give you an assessment of your expected sales and growth.

You can also tweak the forecasting so you get different forecast results, such as the best-case and worst-case scenarios.

If you don’t reach the forecasted expectation, you might want to try to figure out what went wrong and how you can get back on track.

You can also get custom digests and reports sent at specific times to your email or Slack.

Another Metorik feature is its reports and email automation for your subscription site. There’s a lot of information that can be useful for improving your service and getting higher retention rates.

Key metrics in Metorik’s reports include churn and retention rates, MRR, ARR, growth over time, and more. You can also get insight into your active subscriptions with information such as country, state, payment method, etc.

If you only sell regular products, you will get reports for their conversion rates, etc.

Metorik even has customer management features. Each customer will have a personal profile for you to browse, with information such as their country, order history, KPIs, and more.

This way, when a customer contacts you about an order, you can quickly go through their profile and get important information that can help you solve their problems.

You can even integrate Metorik with a support system such as Zendesk so you can reach out to customers and create tickets for them straight from your Metorik dashboard.

Metorik has many integrations, including Zendesk, Google Analytics, Slack, Freshdesk, HelpScout, Groove, Intercom, WooCommerce Subscriptions, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and more.

Metorik starts at $50/month for 500 monthly orders, but to get Metorik Engage and its abandoned cart recovery features, you will have to pay an additional $25.

For more monthly orders, both Metorik and Metorik Engage (at an additional cost) will be more expensive.

Wrapping It Up

Regardless of whether your budget can afford an entire eCommerce automation service such as Jilt or Metorik, or you can only go with one of the free plugins mentioned above, it is important to at least send basic abandoned cart reminders to recover your lost sales.
